Homemade Butter
This was one of the easiest things I have ever made. I don’t know why I didn’t try making my own butter sooner …
Ingredients:
Heavy Cream
Cheese Cloth
Optional ingredients:
Salt, chives, garlic, bacon etc.
Directions:
Using a kitchen aid mixer- pour your heavy cream wether store bought or farm fresh to the mixing bowl & turn your mixer on medium to high speed.
Let the kitchen aid run until butter forms like the photo shown at the top of this recipe, you will not need to scrape the side of the bowls or anything, it will all come together on its own, just be patient.
Side note - when the butter ball forms you will have some splatter because of the butter milk that remains in the bowl - also a way to know its ready!
Remove butter from mixer and any pieces that may have fallen back into the bowl, place in a cheese cloth and squeeze any excess butter milk back into your bowl.
Remove from cheese cloth and rinse under cold water for about a minute.
Place in a bowl and mix in any desired spices or toppings by kneading the butter.
You can use the butter immediately or refrigerate until ready for use!
